The decision making process can be quite serious and complicated for Chicago foodies, what if you want stir fry and a pork taco?! No such dilemnas occur with the opening of fast casual eatery Si Fu, a Chinese Latin kitchen. Opened by restaurant veteran Marc Wuenschel (Hutch), Si Fu was created to offer the two most popular cuisines in the country under one roof. From empanadas to wontons, Si Fu has your favorite Latin and Chinese offerings. Menu stand outs include affordable tacos ($2.88) served “Chinese” style (pickled daikon, carrots, cilanto, cucumber, jalapeno) or “Latin” style with onions, cilantro and lime and are served on choice of soft or crunchy corn tortilla. Stir Fry bowls are also available as “Chinese” (pickled daikon, carrots, cilantro, cucumber jalapeno, kimchi) or “Latin” with black beans and pico de gallo. Both tacos and stir fry come with choice of protein (choice of BBQ pork, Mongolian beef, teriyaki mushroom, coconut curry chicken, orange chicken, lemongrass tofu and lemongrass chicken). Egg rolls, fried rice, elote, sopa, burritos and wontons are also available. Enjoy your meal inside the bright and cheerful dining room with Chinese lanterns, Mexican sombreros and a chalkboard illustrating a tutorial on how to hold chopsticks, or head outside for an al fresco meal on the eatery’s 15 seat patio. Si Fu is slated to open June 16th. Si Fu is open Monday-Thursday 11 am to 10 pm and Friday and Saturday 11 am to midnight. Currently a BYOB, Si Fu expects a liquor license later this summer.
